Cynthia Vaughn soprano Performance Bio visual element of teal with navy, gold, and blue paisley

Cynthia Vaughn has performed on the musical theater and opera stage for forty years.

First there were the ingenue years, including a lot of Gilbert & Sullivan and sassy maids. During the leading lady phase, Kiss Me Kate met Pamina. Then came the “Mom-genue” era —Mrs. Darling and everyone’s mother. The ensemble casts required a bit of dancing and wearing many “hats”— Les Mis wins for most costume changes. Finally, Cynthia has reached that pinnacle of stage achievement. For over a decade now she has performed the delightful, ditzy, dastardly, wonderful and wise Old Lady Roles: Mother Abbess/Sound of Music, Aunt Eller/Oklahoma!, Martha Watson/Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, The Bird Woman and evil nanny Miss Andrew/Mary Poppins, Lady Abbess/ The Comedy of Errors, and Grandma Addams/ The Addams Family. With reverence to and inspiration from Angela Lansbury, Maggie Smith, and Jamie Lee Curtis, Cynthia might just be getting started!
